Conférence : Rétrofutur ou comment les inventions du passé inspirent le futur avec l'Atelier 21

Did you know that the first car to exceed 100km/h in 1899 was… electric? Innovation doesn't always start tomorrow! Exhibition opening on Wednesday, September 23rd at 6pm It's time to dive into Rétrofutur! An exhibition to see on the ground floor of the médiathèque Jean-Pierre Melville from September 22nd to October 11th. This exhibition, in collaboration with Atelier 21, (re)highlights forgotten knowledge, and puts it in dialogue with contemporary creations from design, engineering and art. The goal: to develop new avenues for research and innovation with a view to energy, social and ecological transition. Through the Paléo-énergétique program, Atelier 21 unearths simple, robust and often forgotten devices — heat recovery, solar cooking, passive systems, sober infrastructures — as many concrete avenues to break free from dependence on petrochemical materials. Exhibition supported by the Caisse locale du Crédit Agricole Ile-de-France Inaugural conference linked to the Rétrofutur exhibition on Wednesday, September 30th at 6pm How can science be made accessible? And why? Meet two designers who work closely with scientific material and share it in various forms with a wide audience. Lou-Andreas Etienne is a French designer who works within the scientific outreach team La Physique Autrement (Université Paris-Saclay and CNRS). She designs exhibitions, interactive devices and playful projects to explain concepts of quantum physics to the general public. Simon Bouchaudy is an educational designer. Most of his projects question our relationship to energy production and propose new imaginaries around renewable energies. Within the association Atelier 21, he develops educational tools and training materials to help people understand certain issues related to the history of energy and to empower citizens to take action.
