Exposition "Témoins des réalités climatiques : la migration comme adaptation"

Produced by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with the support of the Ville de Paris, part of the exhibition « Témoins des réalités climatiques : la migration comme adaptation » will be presented at the Bibliothèque Arthur Rimbaud from September 29 to October 31. Through a selection of photographs from its collection, the IOM offers a range of perspectives from different regions of the world. These images document the challenges faced by populations confronted with environmental upheaval and highlight migration as a strategy of adaptation. From droughts and floods in East Africa to hurricanes in the Caribbean, the photographs bear witness to territories exposed to extreme climate shocks. They also reflect more gradual phenomena, such as coastal erosion in Bangladesh or particularly harsh winters in Mongolia, which durably undermine living conditions and livelihoods. By revealing a daily life marked by precarity, food insecurity and environmental degradation, these photographs also testify to communities' capacity to adapt in the face of these upheavals.
