Rencontre et exposition à la Librairie Voyageurs du Monde pour « Carnets d'Islande » de François Olislaeger
Librairie Voyageurs du Monde

"Carnets d'Islande", by François Olislaeger - exhibition meeting at the Librairie Voyageurs du Monde, 48 rue Sainte-Anne, Paris 2nd arrondissement, on September 3, 2026 at 6:30 pm Born in Liège, Belgium, and usually based between Paris and Mexico, press illustrator (Le Monde, Libération, Les Inrocks, Le 1 Hebdo, Beaux-Arts Magazine…) and comic book author François Olislaeger left for Islande in the summer of 2025. Adrift, like an iceberg, after a breakup, he traveled alone across the island for ten days. Starting out as a journey of mourning and lost loves, François Olislaeger ultimately delivers a sensitive and funny illustrated account. A journey of transformation (of lights, of the sky, of ectoplasmic forms) and of the self rediscovered, one is struck by the vivid, organic beauty of the landscapes he renders with a simple line – a mountain resting on the sea, gigantic valleys, fields of stones as far as the eye can see, basalt columns, lava concretions, the black sand beach of Reynisfjara –, but also by the silences, the one he passes through, the one in the panels. And, as the pages and the passing days go by, the pervasive feeling that the mist is lifting. The Librairie Voyageurs is pleased to welcome, on Thursday, September 3, François Olislaeger for the launch of his Carnets d'Islande, published by éditions Gallimard (Le Sentiment géographique collection), and the opening of his exhibition, where it will be possible to purchase some of his drawings. A friendly cocktail reception will close the meeting. Librairie Voyageurs du Monde 48, rue Sainte-Anne, 75002 Paris +33 (0)1 42 86 17 38 M.: Opéra librairie@voyageursdumonde.fr voyageursdumonde.fr
