Not in the mood to plunge back into the frantic pace of the new school year? Enjoy a little more of summer's gentleness by treating yourself to a timeless interlude at the musée Bourdelle. For the space of an evening, set your phone aside and rediscover the pleasure of being fully present to yourself, to others, and to art. Exceptionally open at night, the museum welcomes you into its workshops, its collections and its gardens for a moment devoted to contemplation, reading, creativity and encounters. This edition will be punctuated by the songs and carnatic music of Emmanuelle Martin. Drawn from the musical tradition of South India, this subtle music weaves a permanent dialogue between composition and improvisation, inviting listening and inner journeying. From 6pm to 8pm: an interlude without notifications Upon arrival, you may place your phone in a secure box provided for this purpose, or simply keep it switched off. Freed from digital demands, take the time to wander through the gardens, the workshops and the museum's rooms. Reading, writing, drawing, observing the works, meditating, or simply surrendering to the atmosphere of the place: everyone composes their evening at their own pace. Feel free to bring your notebook or your drawing supplies. Several offerings await you: • Carnatic song and music by Emmanuelle Martin In the hall des plâtres, let yourself be carried away by the entrancing sounds of traditional South Indian music. • Meditative mandalas Take a moment to recenter yourself by coloring a mandala inspired by Bourdelle's universe. • Cyanotype workshop Gather a few leaves in the museum's gardens, then discover the cyanotype photographic process to create a plant-based creation imbued with poetry. • Reading corner Settle in comfortably and immerse yourself in one of the books made available by the médiathèque Marguerite Yourcenar. From 8pm to 9pm: extending the experience Join the other participants at the museum's café-restaurant, Le Rhodia, for a convivial moment. Share your impressions, discoveries and creations in a relaxed and warm atmosphere. Practical information Phones may be placed in secure boxes upon arrival or kept switched off in your bag or pocket. Remember to bring something to read, write or draw with, or your camera if you wish. For the time spent at the café-restaurant, please bring a means of payment. An evening to slow down Treat yourself to a few hours away from screens and daily demands. An invitation to slow down, to sharpen your gaze, to reconnect with your creativity and to share a special moment at the heart of the musée Bourdelle. Emmanuelle Martin Emmanuelle Martin is today a reference in France and Europe in the field of traditional and sacred classical music from South India, carnatic music. It was a true initiatory journey that she experienced over 10 years in Chennai, India, where she devoted herself to learning this music from one of the greatest masters of this tradition, Shri T.M Krishna. Since her return to France in 2014, she travels between India, Europe and the United States, where she gives concerts, passes on this art, and continues her own practice. In January 2016, she joined Ariane Mnouchkine and the troupe of the Théâtre du Soleil to train the actors in carnatic song and music for their production "Une Chambre en Inde". In 2021, she joined the teaching staff of the C.R.D de Gennevilliers (92), where she teaches carnatic song and music through monthly masterclasses and lectures. There, she also works in collaboration with the Formation Musicale teachers in a pedagogical approach that links orality and writing.
