Rayane Mcirdi builds his films from stories, memories and anecdotes gathered from his family, his relatives and the residents of Asnières-sur-Seine and Gennevilliers, where he grew up. Nourished by the accounts that run through his family between Algeria and France, he stages these words with great cinematic precision, turning these ordinary stories into material where the intimate and the collective intersect. Opening: Wednesday 23.09.26, from 6pm to 9pm Curator: Céline Poulin His films give shape to memories that are rarely told and offer - far from the conventional representations of the banlieue - narratives shot through with solidarity, contradictions, dreams of elsewhere, humour and family ties. What plays out in them is always singular, yet resonates well beyond the people filmed. From one film to the next, Rayane Mcirdi explores what is passed down between generations, the way an identity is built between several heritages, the ties that bind individuals to those who came before them, to a territory and to a shared memory, but also the moments when a life tips over and a new horizon opens up. Conceived specially for Le Plateau, the exhibition version of his new film Le dernier jour de Dino unfolds throughout the entire space in the form of a journey composed of several chapters, extended by scenes that echo one another from room to room. Inspired by the story of the artist's father, the film draws us into a seemingly ordinary day: the day a worker leaves the factory for good after forty years of work. Between the last gestures performed at his post, the camaraderie that unites his colleagues, and then the return to his family, this suspended day gradually reveals what it means to leave a world to which one has devoted an entire life. This moment of transition becomes the starting point for a sensitive narrative in which solidarity, tenderness, nostalgia and things left unsaid intertwine, until, behind this family portrait, a profoundly universal experience emerges. Beyond the end of a career, Rayane Mcirdi films with delicacy a pivotal moment in which generations intersect and each person tries to find their place in the face of what is ending, as well as what remains to be passed on. Rayane Mcirdi Rayane Mcirdi was born in 1993 in Asnières-sur-Seine. He lives and works in Gennevilliers, and is represented by the galerie Anne Barrault in Paris. A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris in 2019, Rayane Mcirdi presented his first solo exhibition in 2021 at the Galerie Édouard Manet in Gennevilliers. He has taken part in several group exhibitions at La Villette, at the CENTQUATRE and at the Magasins Généraux. The artist presented the trilogy Croissant de feu at the Centre Pompidou, in Paris in 2023, as part of the "Cinéma prospectif" cycle. In 2024, his film Après le soleil was screened at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes in Cannes and was broadcast on Arte. His film Le Jardin (2021) is part of the collection of the Frac Île-de-France.
